She's With Me

A Feminist Survival Guide to Seattle

We Fight Back Party & Fundraiser

When: Saturday, August 20, 6PM-11PM
Where: House in Beacon Hill (address TBA to attendees closer to event)
Cost: $7-30 suggested donation; buy tickets here or pay at the door (no one turned away for lack of funds)

We Fight Back are partnering with coaches Olivia Mendez and Ann Bailey from Cappy’s Boxing Gym for round two of their women’s boxing therapy program. Come September, 10 women will be training for over 14 weeks to learn basic boxing skills with the option of learning to spar.

In order to make this happen WFB needs you! It will cost around $1400 for this next round to run from start to finish. This includes the training itself, handwraps and mouthguards.

This party is both in celebration of our incredibly supportive community and in an effort to raise funds to reach more women.

The tentative schedule is as follows:

6:00 – Hang time
6:30 – Demo!
7:00 – Performance tbd
8:00 – Sadie Ava, A String of Pearls
https://www.facebook.com/asopmusic/
9:00 – Coreena
https://www.facebook.com/coreenamusic/
10:00 – short film showing

Drinks available for donations.

About sheswithmeseattle

She's With Me is the brain child of three feminists who got tired of emailing each other every time they caught wind of a womanist event, so they created a separate space to house their feminist calendar. The benefits would be twofold: fewer emails cluttering up their inboxes, and more people learning about Seattle's growing feminist community. She's With Me aims to be a feminist hub, where all the goings on of different organizations are collected in one place. Our plans for the site include reviews/write-ups of events, interviews with local feminist activists, news updates, and essays, poetry, and art by feminists. The Fourth Wave of Feminism is here, and She's With Me will be the feminist scrap book documenting our herstory as it unfolds.
