Northwest Film Forum presents the film series Taking Time: A Tribute to Chantal Akerman. Considered to be one of the most significant and influential European filmmakers of her generation, Chantal Akerman’s contributions to avant-garde and feminist cinema were immeasurable. This weekend-long series pays tribute to Chantal Akerman’s life and work with three films rarely screened in the United States, including two West Coast premieres. The three films to be screened include Chantal Akerman, From Here (2012), From the East (1993), and Down There (2016).

“The films of Chantal Akerman are the single most important and coherent body of work by a woman director in the history of the cinema.” —Film Center Gazette of the School of the Art Institute

About sheswithmeseattle

She's With Me is the brain child of three feminists who got tired of emailing each other every time they caught wind of a womanist event, so they created a separate space to house their feminist calendar. The benefits would be twofold: fewer emails cluttering up their inboxes, and more people learning about Seattle's growing feminist community. She's With Me aims to be a feminist hub, where all the goings on of different organizations are collected in one place. Our plans for the site include reviews/write-ups of events, interviews with local feminist activists, news updates, and essays, poetry, and art by feminists. The Fourth Wave of Feminism is here, and She's With Me will be the feminist scrap book documenting our herstory as it unfolds.
