The Untold Story of Street Superheroes: A feminist approach to tackling homelessness

This presentation will introduce specific issues of female homelessness, feminization of poverty and the intersection of homelessness and violence in lives of women. The presentation will include visual material created by homeless women themselves, as well as extracts from narratives by women living in the streets of Central Europe. Examples of social innovation ideas and activist approaches to social work in Rad’s home organization will be presented.

Rad Bandit is a co-founder of Jako Doma – Prague Based NGO focused on the empowerment of homeless women and author of the study entitled “Back from the Bottom: Focused on Women.” Social Policy analyst, author and researcher, Rad has been studying and promoting knowledge of gender-specific homelessness for the past three years, while using visual-narrative analysis.
