She's With Me

A Feminist Survival Guide to Seattle

Jackie VanderBrug: Mobilizing Money, Power for Change

When: December 3 at 7:00PM
Where: Downstairs at Town Hall, 1119 Eighth Avenue
Cost: $10, buy tickets here

The Women’s Funding Alliance presents Jackie VanderBrug at Town Hall. “Womenomics,” the ability of women to lead, promote, inspire, and create change in the workforce, has seen a global surge [allegedly]. In light of this, outlining the necessary steps toward achieving this power has become more important than ever. Jackie VanderBrug, senior vice president with U.S. Trust, will highlight the many ways women are crucial to workplace success–and explain how to leverage the trend of “womenomics.” In conversation with a second guest speaker, VanderBrug will give insight into the unique power of women as entrepreneurs, investors, and philanthropists.

*This event is a little nauseating in its neoliberal optimism, but in a country where businesses have more rights than individual humans we must concede that women in economic leadership positions can be important agents for social justice.

About sheswithmeseattle

She's With Me is the brain child of three feminists who got tired of emailing each other every time they caught wind of a womanist event, so they created a separate space to house their feminist calendar. The benefits would be twofold: fewer emails cluttering up their inboxes, and more people learning about Seattle's growing feminist community. She's With Me aims to be a feminist hub, where all the goings on of different organizations are collected in one place. Our plans for the site include reviews/write-ups of events, interviews with local feminist activists, news updates, and essays, poetry, and art by feminists. The Fourth Wave of Feminism is here, and She's With Me will be the feminist scrap book documenting our herstory as it unfolds.
