She's With Me

A Feminist Survival Guide to Seattle

Seattle Black Feminists’ Half-Day Retreat for Black Women

Seattle Black Feminists

Seattle Black Feminists is currently organizing a half-day retreat for Black women. This is happening on Saturday, Augusts 1, 2015 from 10am-3pm, and we will provide lunch and will have a vegan option. As of this point the location is TBD, but of course it will be happening within the city. Some workshops will be centered around connecting and communicating with other Black women, sacred togetherness, engaging the famous Black feminist trope ‘lift as we climb’ and working to understand what exactly does this mean and in what context does it apply?, and the dynamics of Black feminism in Seattle.

Although the confirmed schedule of workshops are still emerging, tickets are available. This is because space is limited and if you’re like me (who has already bought a ticket and given a donation), then you want to make sure you don’t miss out.

About sheswithmeseattle

She's With Me is the brain child of three feminists who got tired of emailing each other every time they caught wind of a womanist event, so they created a separate space to house their feminist calendar. The benefits would be twofold: fewer emails cluttering up their inboxes, and more people learning about Seattle's growing feminist community. She's With Me aims to be a feminist hub, where all the goings on of different organizations are collected in one place. Our plans for the site include reviews/write-ups of events, interviews with local feminist activists, news updates, and essays, poetry, and art by feminists. The Fourth Wave of Feminism is here, and She's With Me will be the feminist scrap book documenting our herstory as it unfolds.
