She's With Me

A Feminist Survival Guide to Seattle

Take Your Child to School Day

When: Thursday, April 23rd, 11am-1:30pm
Where: University of Washington, Red Square
Event website:

April 23rd is National Take Your Child to Work Day, so why not take your child to school? Feminist organizers at the UW are throwing a Play Date in Red Square as part of a larger effort to highlight the needs of student-parents and encourage the UW administration to provide free/affordable childcare on campus. Since women generally bear the brunt of childcare, the current limited, costly, and inconvenient childcare options are particularly burdensome for student-mothers.

Students will be playing music, dancing, art and having FUN with their little ones! Give the next generation a glimpse into college life while making student parents, and their children, visible on our college campus.

About sheswithmeseattle

She's With Me is the brain child of three feminists who got tired of emailing each other every time they caught wind of a womanist event, so they created a separate space to house their feminist calendar. The benefits would be twofold: fewer emails cluttering up their inboxes, and more people learning about Seattle's growing feminist community. She's With Me aims to be a feminist hub, where all the goings on of different organizations are collected in one place. Our plans for the site include reviews/write-ups of events, interviews with local feminist activists, news updates, and essays, poetry, and art by feminists. The Fourth Wave of Feminism is here, and She's With Me will be the feminist scrap book documenting our herstory as it unfolds.
