A Feminist Survival Guide to Seattle
When: Friday, Sept 12 – Sunday, Sept 14
Where: University of Washington
Cost: sliding scale donation of $15-$65; register here
Seattle Clinic Defense and Full Spectrum Doulas announce the 2nd Annual Northwest Reproductive Justice Summit, “Defending Our Bodies: From CeCe McDonald to #YesAllWomen,” September 12-14, at the University of Washington in Seattle!
Topics will focus on themes of intersectional women’s experiences, feminism, reproductive justice, and bodily autonomy. We will see discussions about (just for example) trans rights, the prison industrial complex, pink collar labor organizing, transformative justice, herbal birth control, birth justice, rape culture, radical cartoons, and decolonization, as well as learning what organizing is currently happening in the Pacific Northwest and how to get involved!
The (tentative!) current schedule involves a queer burlesque experience Friday evening, an opportunity to provide clinic defense against anti-choice bigots early Saturday morning, workshops all day Saturday, a keynote speech and dinner Saturday evening, and a closing meal and discussion Sunday morning. List of speakers available here.
Attendees are expected from all over the Pacific Northwest. Register soon to save your spot as space will be limited! The event will be as accessible as possible. If you have any accessibility needs (childcare, interpretation, visual description, chemical-free, dietary needs, etc.) as a participant, please note this in your registration!
A sliding scale donation of $15 to $65 for the weekend is encouraged, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds! Donations will be used to pay for food, Spanish and ASL interpreters, captioning, childcare, and other accessibility concerns.
Also, if you would like to give a workshop at this conference, please submit your workshop proposal here
More details regarding how to pay, meals provided, transportation logistics, and room sharing to be announced soon!
