Tavi Gevinson, feminist, teen fashion icon, editor-in-chief of ROOKIE magazine, and overall badass is coming to Seattle! Short Run is partnering with Drawn & Quarterly, the Vera Project, and Elliott Bay Book Company to launch ROOKIE YEARBOOK TWO, an amazing fun-filled afternoon featuring readings, a book signing, and a zine workshop.

ROOKIE is an independent online magazine made by and for teenage girls. It was created by Tavi Gevinson in 2011, when she was just fourteen years old; today, about a third of the magazine’s staff are teenage writers, photographers, and illustrators. ROOKIE YEARBOOK TWO features exclusive content from Lena Dunham, Judy Blume, Grimes and Mindy Kaling. The books collects interviews and contributions from notable adults including Morrissey, Emma Watson, Molly Ringwald, Carrie Brownstein, the astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, award-winning cartoonist Chris Ware, and Museum of Jurassic Technology founder David Wilson.

About sheswithmeseattle

She's With Me is the brain child of three feminists who got tired of emailing each other every time they caught wind of a womanist event, so they created a separate space to house their feminist calendar. The benefits would be twofold: fewer emails cluttering up their inboxes, and more people learning about Seattle's growing feminist community. She's With Me aims to be a feminist hub, where all the goings on of different organizations are collected in one place. Our plans for the site include reviews/write-ups of events, interviews with local feminist activists, news updates, and essays, poetry, and art by feminists. The Fourth Wave of Feminism is here, and She's With Me will be the feminist scrap book documenting our herstory as it unfolds.
