She's With Me

A Feminist Survival Guide to Seattle

Allergic to Cats

When: Wednesday, October 8th at 7PM
Where: Black Coffee Co-op, 501 E Pine St
Cost: FREE

It’s time once again for Allergic to Cats, Seattle’s bra-burningest poetry reading! Our latest edition promises to take you down to the earth-root of the sacred feminine and shot-put you right up to the moon. With booze! And dresses! (BYOD)

Gender-benders and gender-bound, if yer binary’s broke, Meredith Myre will help you fix it. Star of the mythic folk-rock outfit Myrmidon (Achilles’ own) Meredith will no doubt be serving up something revolutionary. Myrmidon lives on the web here: https://soundcloud.com/myrmidon-music

Lovers, sit with Reverend Shae Savoy, poet-priestess and tarot diviner while she fills your Cups, that is to say, the Suit of your Ears, with sacred verse. Among Shae’s projects is a communal effort to reclaim women’s poetry from the margins and attics where it has been tucked. Check out her women’s poetry workshops, tarot meditations, and blog here: http://shaesavoy.wordpress.com/

Finally, Natasha Marin will make verse visual with a multimedia reading (goddess willing and technology working). A poet and interdisciplinary artist, Natasha’s a Cave Canem fellow, a Hedgebrook Alum, and is responsible for interactive, immersive, community art in Seattle, Austin, and further afield. Check out her past and future projects here: http://www.natasha-marin.com/#!home/mainPage

Also, Jennifer Muhm, a King County Department of Health expert on the Washington Exchanges will be stopping by to answer your questions about the Affordable Healthcare Act. She has lots of resources to share about how to get healthcare (including reproductive and mental health care!), how to help others get signed up, and how to secure your spot on a Death Panel. (*wink*)

About sheswithmeseattle

She's With Me is the brain child of three feminists who got tired of emailing each other every time they caught wind of a womanist event, so they created a separate space to house their feminist calendar. The benefits would be twofold: fewer emails cluttering up their inboxes, and more people learning about Seattle's growing feminist community. She's With Me aims to be a feminist hub, where all the goings on of different organizations are collected in one place. Our plans for the site include reviews/write-ups of events, interviews with local feminist activists, news updates, and essays, poetry, and art by feminists. The Fourth Wave of Feminism is here, and She's With Me will be the feminist scrap book documenting our herstory as it unfolds.
