She's With Me

A Feminist Survival Guide to Seattle

Banquet of Poems: A reading by Nellie Wong.

Northwest residents will have a rare opportunity to hear Nellie Wong as she shares a banquet of poems from her fourth book, Breakfast Lunch Dinner at a reading on Saturday, December 1 in South Seattle. Inspired by her immigrant family, Wong’s new book serves up the flavors of Oakland Chinatown. Her poetry is a blend of art and activism, infused with feminism, family lore and recipes, workplace battles and the search for identity as a Chinese American writer-radical. The reception also features an Asian Fusion Appetizer Buffet. Hosted by the Freedom Socialist Party.
When: Dinner at 6PM, reading at 7PM on Saturday, December 1st
Where: New Freeway Hall, 5018 Rainier Ave. S, in Columbia City
Cost: $2 door donation, $9 dinner

About sheswithmeseattle

She's With Me is the brain child of three feminists who got tired of emailing each other every time they caught wind of a womanist event, so they created a separate space to house their feminist calendar. The benefits would be twofold: fewer emails cluttering up their inboxes, and more people learning about Seattle's growing feminist community. She's With Me aims to be a feminist hub, where all the goings on of different organizations are collected in one place. Our plans for the site include reviews/write-ups of events, interviews with local feminist activists, news updates, and essays, poetry, and art by feminists. The Fourth Wave of Feminism is here, and She's With Me will be the feminist scrap book documenting our herstory as it unfolds.
